Brief Description:  Set torque on (R) mount

I started off this morning setting the torque on all of the bolts for the right gear weld mount and marked with torque seal. Some of the interior nuts I could not get the seal on so I marked them on the bolt head as I reminder that the torque was set. I then had to re-install the 6 nut plates that go on the top of the center section. These had to come out so I could remove the gear weld mounts.

The next thing was to clean up the shop some, after that it was to continue with the fuel vent and brake lines. This is what I was working on before I discovered I had to open up the holes in the gear mounts. I installed the 45 degree bulkheads that go out the bottom through the gear mounts, and the fuel vent bulkhead fitting which will connect up to the line from the fuel tanks. I put a nut on the head of these fittings as protection for the threads, I have one that has a bad thread, I don’t have any extras so I will have to make an order. I already sent a T-fitting back a few weeks ago due to the same issue. Van’s sent me a new one without question once I returned the damaged one.

After getting back from the eye doctor I decided to try to make the fuel vent line on the right side. This is not as easy as it would seem. I know now why guys say to buy a bunch more of the line since you will go through it. I finally picked up on a technique of using the wasted lines to make models of the bends and then using a fresh piece use the model as a template. I need to read up more on what makes a good flare before I continue with the fuel vent line fabrication. I will continue with the line tomorrow, like everything with building the learning curve is steep, so I expect my pace to increase once I get comfortable with working with the aluminum tube.
