Brief Description:  Installed (L) side Cherry rivets

Try as I might I can’t seem to put more than 3 hours of actual build time in a given day, oh well it is still progress.

My Cherry rivets came in the mail today, so the first thing I inspected the rivet holes and confirmed they met the tolerance of the rivet. The hole is obviously enlarged somewhat after setting the previous rivets but not by much. The Cherry rivet can take a hole oversized to .132, all of the holes where less than .130. I used draw clecoes in every hole to pull things up nice and tight. It only took 15 min to set all seven rivets. The fit is much better but I still have a slight gap, but much improved.

I then spent the next hour setting just two rivets! This is the rivet on the forward side of the F804 bulkhead. The rivet had to go through a little tab on the rib and it would just not line up and was difficult to move but I finally mange it. The setting of the rivet was the easy part. I fought the most with the left side. I was trying to do all this with the static line running through this area, I finally got the bright idea to remove the line from the F804 rib area and then things went smoothly.

After putting the static line back I installed the G/S antenna bulkhead BNC and fresh air vent. It was nice to install something for the last time; these should stay for good now.

I then stared on the firewall shield for my EFIS wires. The shields come with pre-punched mounting holes but they are larger than 1/8 like I thought they were, I need to find some stainless 5/32 rivets. You can mount them with screws but I see no reason this will have to come out and if it does I can just drill out the rivets. When I am ready to rivet them in place it will get a good coating of fireproof sealant.
