In doing the wires under the left side I was looking over how I had set up for the left tank fuel line to fit into the selector. What got me started on this is another RV-8A builder flew up for a visit yesterday and commented on my unfinished fuel line sticking out the right side. I did not know how far it should extend to reach the tank, so I left it like 6” with no flare, then we found the dimension 3.25” on the DWG, the RV-8A fuel system DWG refers you to the RV-8 fuel system DWG which I missed.
The left port (left tank feed) on my fuel selector has a “T” on the side goes to the left tank and the other side is the Purge Return fuel. I had an elbow on the tank side of the “T” but this made the run to the tank nearly straight which is not good. I was thinking of having a small Teflon line made for this small run which would then be able to flex. But looking at it today I thought I could make one out of tubing. I had just enough room to come aft off the selector fitting make a 180 and then 90 out the side of the plane. Once I had this done I wondered if this will rub on the Pitot and AOA lines that connect here (I ran metal tubes under the console there). I took some spare static line and ran it from aft of the spar through the holes to these fittings; it looks like it will work fine. I did see that I will have to make sure the lines loop under the wire bundle as it comes out on the forward side of the spar (see photo).
You and see the left tank line loop and the AOA/Pitot conenctions
Tubes hook left and go through hole in gear weld mount
At final wing install, Pitot/AOA lines will rund with no breaks and go thru the spar here.
