Brief Description:  Finished riveting elevator up to trim tab holes

Not much to finish the riveting of the elevator, at least up to the trim tab fitting. You have to leave the top skin rivets open along where the trim tab hinge gets riveted into place. All I had left today was the rivets along the E-705 root rib and along the bottom of the trailing edge.

One area I read about is the trim tab servo, me like others when building the servo mount saw that the dimensions for placement of the servo did not center it on the opening in the skin, so we ignored the dimensions and centered the servo. Well after fitting the trim tab, the plans might be correct (sort of). You can see in the photo that the control rod is not exactly in line with the servo control horn. I emailed the pictures to Van’s and they said there is enough play that this should not be an issue. I can make a bend in the rod if required and I might need to trim the skin some if the rod interferes. I have tested the servo end by itself and it does not interfere. So if you are to this stage, you might consider deviating from the plans and waiting to rivet the servo mount together. If you wait till the trim tab is all lined up then you will know where the servo needs to go to keep things all lined up. I still think the plans are off, but the servo may need to be slightly off center.
