All I did today was bend the trailing edge of the trim tab. Just like the other control surfaces the bending brake gets it close then I use the hand seam tool to finish it up. I am happy with the bend, at first I thought I might have over done the bend so I clecoed the trim tab spar into place and it looks great. Now if I can get the sides bent correctly.
Along that vane I made up a few scraps and tried a few bends. I was trying one guy’s idea of using 1/8” aluminum and a wall paper seam roller. A section of 1/8” aluminum bar is placed under the skin where the bend goes. I make the initial bend with a piece of wood then start rolling the edge with the seam roller, then I lay another scrap of aluminum bar flat on the tab and hit it with the flush rivet set. I would get noticeable dents in the metal if I used the rivet set against the trim tab itself. The aluminum under the trim tab makes for a nice crisp bend. Time will tell how well it works.
Tomorrow is a long awaited day; I finally get my cast off and can start to work on building up the strength in my arm and hand.
