Well today I worked on the new trim tab spar E-606. I did not like how the countersinks turned out with the first one. This time I used a combination of techniques which worked out well. I took a scrap of MDF and some aluminum sheet and drilled the spar and clecoed it into place as I went. This left me with a nice hole for the pilot on the countersink which held it nice and steady. I used the aluminum because the MDF can auger to a wider hole and allow the pilot to drift some. I am very happy with the new spar even though the old one was usable.
Now I have to do the work on the trim tab. I will have to think this through, I have read where many builders go through multiple tabs before they get it all correct.
I also set the torque on the bolts holding the right elevator counterweight
Drilled and clecoed to scrap wood and aluminum
Makes for nice countersink
Primed hard to tell but the holes all turned out nice.
