Brief Description: Riveted on nut plates and left elevator stiffeners
I really did not intend to spend all day in the shop but I did. I was down there by 7:30 am and only took a break for lunch. I finally stopped at 4:30 because we are babysitting my wife’s nephew so I had to get ready to help with the guy exploring his terrible twos.
I stared off with riveting on the nut plates and they turned out really well. You can see the results in photo below. I then set out to bend the right elevator; it went so well that I decided to tackle the left one as well. Both turned out really good, the edge is straight as an arrow and I did not have the cupping issues I had with the rudder. You can see from the picture that the skin just sits off of the spar in its relaxed state. I did need to use the hand seam tool; the bending break just does not do the trick. I used the 1/8” dowel again. The rest of my work today is in the next log entry, I did so much today it requires two entries…..
