Brief Description:  Primed L/R HS ribs, spars and Lt skin

Holly cow two days in a row working on the project! Some of you may not know why this seems like such a big deal. But I feel like I should be putting in more each day, since I work for an airline and I get groups of days at home and groups of days away. Well I have been home the last few days but still have not managed to get into the shop. It certainly is not for wanting to, just other priorities.

Today I stared out planning to prime the left side ribs and the spar parts. Well I mixed up a little more primer than I had intended so I manage to get most of the ribs and the left HS skin done. The right skin still needs to be dimpled. I was planning a small prime session because my paint booth is small. It is raining and cold here so working outside will not be an option for a while. The paint booth worked as planned. I set it up to the partially open garage door; I then place plywood to seal the area below (see Photo). The fan draws the paint and most of the fume right out and the parts dry quickly being in a nice warm area. My shop is in the basement garage and it stays around 60-65 down here. I augment the residual heat from the house with a radiant heater.

On the VS I used rattle can primer, but after shooting the Sherwin Williams washed primer on the VS skin and seeing that it sets up hard as nails I decided to do all of the HS parts with the washed primer. I am still learning how to adjust and set up the gun, but getting better. The last few parts turned out much better than the first few. I am not sure you can tell by the picture though. I did shoot the gray rattle can primer on top of the washed primer on the reinforcing angles. The washed primer is transparent and for whatever reason I thought the gray made the parts look better. Not that anyone will see this area, but what the heck.
