Brief Description:  Primed and riveted VS spar and doubler

Well I could not do much on the bathroom remodel since the drywall guys were here and I was just in the way. So I took the opportunity to work on the airplane. I riveted the VS spar doublers to the main spar. These are the first two parts of the plane I have actually riveted. Up until today all my riveting has been on training projects. The last of which was the Van's toolbox (see pic below).

It feels great to actually get started on the plane. The rivets seemed a bit thick once set, this is normal I guess as the plans call for rivets a bit longer than what I would choose based on my limited knowledge of rivet size selection. The diameter of the shop head is well within tolerances. I posted my concern on the VAF forum and received confirmation that the rivets are set fine and to build on. Tomorrow I will prime and ready the remaining part of the VS skeleton.
