Brief Description:  Arlington Fly-In (drive in for me)

I went to Arlington for the day to attend the Arlington fly in, it is the Northeast’s answer to Sun-N-Fun and Oshkosh. I had a chance to talk to Scott Risen from Van’s, he confirmed everything Joe said about how I should have my batter up front. It was a rare day with Van’s brought up the RV-8A. I spent some time scouring over some of the plane to see how they did a few things like running the static line forward. I snapped a few pictures as I went. I picked up my propeller governor from Bob with American Propeller and chatted with him for a while. I stopped by the Kestrel Air stand to see the Avero LED lights, I plan to use these lights but I am waiting to see what they come up with for the RV cutout wing. Howy was hoping to have something to show but as of that day he did not. He did say he had a FEDEX package waiting that he hopped would be the new light setup. I was only there for day so I will have to wait until OSH to see what they have some up with.

I picked a few items for a surplus guys, he has a setup at Arlington every year, my first year I did not know what I was looking at this year I picked up a few things that might come in handy like some premade brackets, these might make nice stand offs to anchor cushion clamps for wiring.

The last part of the day I had a nice talk with Gary from Aerotronics, he makes some really nice panels, I only wish I had the budget to have him do mine. He was very helpful and gave me a little short class on wire lace, cooling, CBs and we even talked some on electrical system design and busses and the merits of avionics buss. He thinks you should have one.
