I am lucky enough to be within a couple of hours of the Van's Facility. Today I drove down and took a tour of the factory and was very impressed. I was also able to take a ride in the RV8A demonstrator. Of course due to insurance issues I had to ride in the back seat which was quite comfortable for my 6 foot 240lb frame.
Of course I made the decision to build an RV long ago but the flight cinched the deal. I had ordered the tail kit before I drove down and while there left a deposit on the QB wing and fuselage. I then proceeded down to Eugene, OR to take the "Fundamentals of Building" class at Wally Anderson's Synergy Inc. This class has given me all the confidence to start building my plane. I wished I had the money to do the Empannage class but I will do like many others have and just dive into the kit on my own.
