Well I got back to work on the plane today. I removed the foam block then cut and sanded the inlet tube to length. I am using a little less than ½ inch spacing between the scoop and the filter box. I prosealed then riveted on the alternate air door and hooked it up and adjusted and tested the function. This turned out to be much less of a hassle than I figured it would be.
I then riveted on the baffle rubber material to the filter box, then test fit by installing the lower cowl. It takes some doing but with the lower cowl in place I can reach in enough to push the rubber seal into its proper place.
