Brief Description:  Wing nut plates

I am catching up on my log entries which I have been remiss to do each day. I am spending most of the day at the hanger and really don’t want to type when I get home. Today I finished up the nut plates on the wing root. Be careful the plans call for a regular nut plate on the upper wing next to the spar, there is not room to rivet this even with a pop rivet, also when drilling be careful I nice the spar there and had to dress it and spray with primer after checking with Van’s. Stick with on lug nut plates here and you will be fine. I think this should be called for in the plans but it is not. The only way I see to use a regular nut plate is to take the tank off to set the rivets for it.

I moved onto the tank bracket it gets a mini ¼” nut plate and then I cut the slot on the tank bracket side of things. Be sure to check the plans, the rivets on the nut plate are supposed to line up with the slot so in a crash the bolt and nut will pull out. Mine was off a bit because I did not catch this in the instructions.

Last I flared the fuel lines. The dimension is the plans for leavening the line stubbed out where perfect, you should have a curve in the fuel line so it is easy to adjust for the perfect fit.
