Brief Description:  Wing stuff before fitting

The big work today was to get things ready to fit the wings. I still had to safety the bolts that hold the roll servo, I managed this after a couple tries, it was a little difficult working thought the access hole! Next up was to tap the holes that the wing ties down rings go into; this took some time but turned out nice.

I took a short break and read the plans again on how the wing fitting process should go. I made the block that holds one side of the level to determine the wing incidence angle. I made it out of some scrap aluminum angle from the tank support brackets. Next was checking to make sure the bolts would all clear. I had done this a couple years ago when I fit the gear mounts but decided to check it again. Good thing, the upper ¼” bolts interfered with the F804 bulkhead some. I used a drift pin to protect the anodized spar part and shaved a bit of the hole in the F804, now the bolts slide in nicely.

The hole that gets drilled in the rear spar is a tight fit and a 5/8” edge distance has to be honored for the center of the hole. I marked this edge distance on all the parts so when the wings are fit I will have a reference. I hope to do this on Tuesday if I don’t get called out on a trip; I am on reserve the next 6 days!

The last thing today was to mark and drill the holes for the Pitot and AOA lines to pass thru the fuselage.
