The liquid shim idea has worked nicely. I took off the skirts to sand down the edges of the shims since it gets real thin in places. After refitting the skirts I drilled out the holes needed for rivets and it makes a nice fit. The shims are not very cosmetic but I plan to install foam boards covered in my interior fabric to fill between the canopy frame steel tubes, this will cover shimmed area.
