Brief Description:  More work on the skirt

Can you believe I spent the entire day still working on the canopy skirt. I started by refining the aft end a bit more, then I used a light on the inside to mark the edge of the canopy glue line. Not feeling confident I drew a parallel line 1/8 “high and made my first cut there. It is a good thing too because I think this will be my final trim. The Sika glue line was a bit wavy so this line fits so that from the outside you can’t see the waves, you can from the inside, my though is I will paint the skirt black above the lower edge of the canopy so it will blend in with the black Sika adhesive.

After the trim of the upper lines I refit the skirt and messed more with the aft fit, I just did not like how it was lying on the fuselage. I was basically happy but still had a bit of pucker on the “S” curve up the side of the fuselage. I tried some heat gun magic but did not like how that turned out. Pulling and tugging on the aft ends I found that if I pulled up and in the puck would go away. I did this with both sides and made a new trim line for the aft seam and now I am really happy. The right side is perfect but the left still has a bit of a bow but I can live with this, I plan to put a slurry on the underside and close the canopy and let it set this should give me a nice tight seal around the edges.

Now I need to decide where to trim the front edge of the skirt and how I want it to transition to the windscreen. I have a trip tomorrow and then Anita is riding in a horse show this weekend, I might get one more day of work in before my end of month trip, so much for getting the plane to the hanger this month.
