Brief Description:  Removed OFA spacer

Well I have not actually done any building the last few days but I have been doing research on engine installations and cable anchor ideas for the Air Flow Performance fuel injection. My standby alternator came in and I learned that I need a couple of spacer kits to make it fit. The SD20 interferes with the oil filter adapter assembly which has a 2.5” spacer to move the filter aft from the accessory case. The standby alternator sits on the vacuum pump pad and uses that gearing to spin the alternator. In reading online it appears I need a 1.4” spacer for the OFA and a ¾“ spacer kit for the vacuum pad to alternator connection. With a stock oil filer this would not be a problem but if you want the ease of filter changes the OFA is required.

I removed the oil filter adapter spacer with the intent to have it machined down to the 1.4 inches I need, I also removed the vacuum pad cover to look at that. The same company that sells the alternator sells spacer and the SD20 extension kit so I ordered both and decided to forgo the machining of the spacer I have. I figured I could get a refund or sell the spacer. I later checked and the new spacer is about what the local machine shop would charge to trim my space down, so I will try to sell it online to recoup some of my cost.
