Brief Description:  Electical wires continued

The new dimmer switches came in so I swapped out the bad one for the front side LED strips and tested them and they work great, I guess I did have a bad switch. I then drilled the ELT panel for 4-40 screws; I still need to get the brass washers and nuts.

I organized some Adel clamps to support the wires across the front of the cockpit; on the gear mounts I am using some cheap plastic snap together clamps. I pulled out one of the double wire sets that I had run through the spar that was part of the Van’s harness, it was 16 AWG and I only need 18 AWG. I did need some 16 AWG for the boost pump. I ran this wire across the cockpit to the boost pump. The next wire I ran was the pitot wire, it is red I had bought red wire when I was working on the pitot wires in the wing, the rest of my wires I am going the standard white. Some will do colored wires but I just plan to label extensively.

The next thing I did was pull the 7 twisted wires used for the autopilot servo through the wing spar area, while looking at a route I discovered I still need to touch up the gear mount where the powder coating has flaked off. This happened while working on the hole clearance, the mount was not prepared well for the powder coating so a lot flaked off when handling the mount. The areas are hidden under the console, but I want to hit it with some primer and the touch up color I have that matches the powder coating color.

I think I need to take a step back; I will have to remove some fuel lines to touch up the gear mount, I need to blow out the line anyways, this also got me to thinking I really need to get the control column installed before I run anymore wires, I need to de-conflict my runs from the control column. So there are several things I need to do before I go any further with the wiring. Someone told me once build from the middle out!
