Brief Description:  Pre-cover Inspection

The inspector assigned by the 'Minister's Delegates - Recreation Aviation Inspection Service' (MD-RA) set out at 5am this morning from his home in the adjoining province of Alberta. He arrived at my hangar after a 5 hour drive with his wife for company, clocking 350 km one way.
Josef was a wonderful guest, meticulous in his inspection and effusive in his praise for the design and fabrication of the kit. He was also generous in his comments regarding my assembly work and quality control methodology and logging.
He gave me quite a few small tips, noted that the foam strips on some of the flying surfaces (visible in photos below) needed to be adjusted before covering and then signed off my inspection report. He also signed my application for registration marks which I promptly faxed off to the Regional Office of Transport Canada, Civil Aviation. Through the MD-RA website I could access the available marks (in Canada they all start with C-F or C-G, with C-I only for microlights). Not wanting to be assigned a random mark such as C-FUKH (yes, it really is available) I asked for and got C-GMKR for a fee of $50.
