Brief Description:  6-2 Completion

Page #1 is complete and we're moving on to 6-3.

Yesterday, I mentioned that I was going to the Houston RV builders gathering. Today it was at Carls BBQ on Weiser (EYQ) Airport.

I showed up and it was a great visit. I definately will be doing my best to attend future meetings.

I wasn't real excited about the work I did on the Rear Spar Doubler, so I brought it with me. I felt like it was fine, but I also felt like I could do a better job erasing the stamp marks on the inside holes. Bringing the part turned out to be a good decision. It served as a discussion point for many educational topics. Ultimately, the suggestion was to use a file on the inside holes and a dremel sander in the corners.

I stopped by Lowes on the way home and picked up some tools. Within 5 minutes, the doubler cleaned up nicely and looked great! That was well worth the vist.

To complete 6-2, I had to drill #30's through the hinge doubler, top/middle/lower hinge brackets, and the holes is the doubler that also went through the spar caps.

After that was done, I had to counter-sink all the #30 holes below the upper attach bolt holes. This was my first experience with a microstop counter sink.

I had a terrible time getting the tool tuned in. Everytime I got it adjusted, it would quit again. Come to find out, the bit wasn't tight and it was turning on the threads. So make sure you tighten your bit down, otherwise it's like pushing a rope uphill.

Once it got tuned in, counter-sinking the holes was super easy.
