After the good work JAC and I did over the weekend, I discovered I have made a major error. I have used the bolts supplied with the propeller from " Airmaster Propellers " in New Zealand. I followed the directions as published in the operators manual. I noticed ( after completing the installation ) that the ends of the bolts are about 5mm short in the drive lugs on the engine flange. I used the M8 X 40mm-bolts as supplied, to connect the propeller extension to the engine flange. These bolts are correct length for engines WITHOUT an external alternator. After looking at photos I have and searching the TAF maintenance Manual I realised I need M8 X 45mm-bolts, as I have an external alternator. ( Sling4 Maintenance Manual page 259 ). I have written to Airmaster and awaiting their reply, re: supplying longer bolts and reusing Nord-lock washers. I should have realised I needed longer bolts, I did not give it a thought. " Bugger " one day I'm going to do a job just once.
