-Got the wing tips out of the basement to start working on getting them mounted -First step was to make an alignment tool to locate neutral on the ailerons so the tip can be installed neutral as well. -I diverted myself to the position light lens area as some modifications are in order based on my type of position/strobe lights (see pic below). I plan to run the light on the angle and build up a base to mount it, at least that's my initial plan. -Because I need to figure out how to modify the base where the lights will go I decided to tackle the clear cover that goes over the whole shootin' match. -Cut the lens in half per the plans (one half is the left and one is the right). -I focused on the right lens so I set the plexiglass in place, roughly marked it out and started trimming and trimming and trimming. I wanted to be careful not to over do it cause you can't add material. -Finally got a decent fit, but I did scratch the lens in a couple of places near the edges (will try to polish those out later so they don't become cracks).
See how the strobe/nav lights will go on the angle between the two bases
Plexi cut in half
Lens finally trimmed in very close. Might sand it just alittle more.
