Continueing with the rear baggage modifications. The plan is to put a shelf aft of the main baggage area that can be used to store somthing light weight and bulky (sleeping bag) or long. -I layed out the dimensions and cut the aft shelf -Then I cut the 025 on the band saw (should have used shears) -Then I used the mini sheet metal brake from harbor frieght to put a bend in the end to act as a little retainer. (I'll have anchors for straps so things can't move around if carried back there). -Then I deburred everything. -Trimmed and re-trimmed to fit it into the fuselage. -It was pretty flimsy at the widest part (front) so I'm going to add stiffeners like the ones used in the control surfaces, etc. -Made up the stiffeners out of the extra scrap that comes with the wings. Used the 1.5" wide strips and bent them on the brake - worked great! More to come on this mod.
Started with this piece of 025
After a little bit of wrestling it looked like this - still needs to finishing and stiffners installed
Make up the stiffners with the cheapo sheet metal brake - worked good!
