Time to rivet everything together on this avionics access panel mod. I didn't have any universal head -3 rivets that were long enough for the hinges so I drilled them out to -4. I flush riveted the doubler to the bulkhead including the nutplates that allow the access door to be secured closed. I then squeezed (pneumatic) the -4 rivets that attach the hinge to the bulkhead and the access door. No issue. I'm happy to move back to the fuselage itself. Total time for this mod was : 9.5 hrs kinda slow, but worth it in the end. I do need to be conscious of how these mods add to the total build time so I don't get too strung out. I think this mod is definately worth it, plus it speeds up putting the skin on above the avoinics area because you have access to buck through the new opening.
PS My buddy Bob from work is stopping by to check out the build, he's ready to do an RV in the coming months so that will be really cool!
