This morning I worked on opening up the landing light hole in the leading edge carefully to the prescribed dimensions. I used the shears to get within about 1/4" from the edge and used the dremmel with a sanding drum (60 grit) to take it out from there. Once I was satisfied, I sanding with emery cloth and 240 and then 600 grit to get it nice and smooth. Next was to drill the hole in the skin where the lense screws go. I used the supplied pre-drilled brace as a template per the plans. Then I moved to install the nutplates onto the ribs to attach the landing light assembly. All went well and hopefully I'll knock this out in a couple more days. Beautiful weather, Mitchel and I went dirtbiking!
Gotta love cutting metal with over-grown sissors!
Done! With the hole anyway!
