Brief Description: Right fuel tank riveting - stiffeners
I felt ambitious and since it is father's day I thought I'd try to knock out the right tank stiffeners. As predicted it took less time (1.8 vs 2.2) because I was familiar and everything was already setup. I MEK'd the mating surfaces and mixed up 4.45 oz of ProSeal (I used exactly that). I tried avoid the prouder rivets I got on the left tank by putting less ProSeal into the dimple before putting in the rivet and I used a large screwdriver to hold the work solidly down onto the back riveting plate, but the results were about the same, seems like I need a lesson in back-riveting as I'm better with the bucking bar. I plan to not back-rivet the drain boss and fuel cap reciever, I'll just rivet them normally. All-in-all I'm happy with the progress and workmanship. I hope I can knockout the drain and fuel cap for at least one tank in the morning before work. I need to call Mike and see if Tues night we can start glueing ribs in!
Used a Q-tip to put just a little ProSeal into each dimple.
Back-riveting - again! Notice I got in a hurry and forgot the black tape for the ribs - Oh well.
Even more mess this time, but I wasn't going to leave any ProSeal in the mixing cup.
