Well the month of March has been tough on the building. I have been in school learning a new aircraft for the last 3 weeks so that has been my focus. I did manage to wrestle with the wing stands that I will use to fabricate the wings from this point forward. The design is based on Rudi Greyling's (who I think says he got from another RV builder).
My weldor took car of fabricating the stands, but I had to prep, prime, and paint. Then came the rather un-fun job of anchoring them into the floor. On the suggestion of my weldor I went with a 2 part bonding adhesive to set the bolts, that turned out to be a major pain and I had mixed results. Next time I will go the easy route with the expanding masonary bolts.
Then came the task of figuring out where to drill the holes in the uprights for the supports, etc. Not hard, but not alot of guidance in the plans or the internet which made me decide I was making it harder than it actually was. I really like them but after all the aggrivation (10+ hrs and expense (est $400)), I would go via the plans and do the wood 4x4s and call it good.
