Today was such a wonderful day!!!
Heather made a sign and hung it from the porch to let everyone know that the airplane would be born today. That sign was seen around the world.
The Patriot-News, ABC 27 news, and NBC 8 news all showed up and did stories on the plane being born. The stories were picked up by the national news and broadcast on ABC World News and CNN. My son Philip said one of his friends in Scotland saw the story in a newspaper over there. If you Google "Dan Reeves Airplane" there are at least 20 pages worth of links. I've received calls from all kinds of radio stations around the country asking for interviews. Definitely having fun with my 15 minutes of fame.
There were probably 100 or more people who stopped by to watch or help - neighbors, co-workers, EAA chapter friends, friends from church, and just curious passers by.
Matt flew his Lancair down from Rochester, NY and helped pull the plane out of the basement, load it onto the trailer and drive it over to Capital City Airport in New Cumberland.
The plane was born at 1:00PM Wednesday, May 25th, 2011.
It looks amazing sitting in my hangar next to Matt's Lancair. Matt was back home by dinner time.
