Brief Description: Trim Neck of FAB - Align Horizontally to Cowl
The instructions indicate that the flanges of the top plate may need to be fluted to fit within the fiberglass FAB. However, the fit of these two parts was excellent and no fluting was required.
The next step was to bolt the mount plate to the carb and then to clamp the top plate to the mount plate and align it horizontally with the scoop in the lower cowl. This took a couple of iterations of installing and removing everything before I was able to get everything to line up.
The first iteration was used to mark where the neck of the FAB needed to be trimmed back to in order to allow for the normal installation/removal of the lower cowl without hitting the FAB.
The next couple of iterations were needed to rotatate the top plate slightly against the mount plate, reclamp them back together again and then reinstall the lower cowl until the neck of the FAB lined up horizontally with the scoop in the lower cowl. This couldn't be adjusted while the cowl was on because I elected not remove the exhaust pipes.
