Brief Description:  Join Stick Wires to Cable Running to Sub Panel

Today I joined all of the PTT and trim wires from the Ray Allen G205 grips on the sticks to the cable running up to the sub panel. I used D-Sub pins to make the butt splices on the tiny wires and then used heat shrink tubing over each individual connection and then over the entire group of wires. I also used a few cable ties to hold everything securely together.

I tried testing out my Comm radio but it seems I have a problem somewhere. I can transmit but I can't seem to receive anything. My handheld picks up transmissions from the SL40 but I can't hear anything transmitted from the handheld. Likewise I can't hear the ATIS on the SL40 but I can on the handheld. Bummer, I'm not sure if it is the SL40, or the GMA-340 audio panel, or my wiring. I don't think it is the audio panel since I get the same results when I power down the GMA-340. The failsafe kicks in and routes the SL40 on Comm 1 directly to the headsets and microphone. I can still transmit OK without the audio panel but I still have no reception. I purchased the radio used from a guy at the flymart in Oshkosh so I think my next step will be to have an Avionics guy check it out.
