Brief Description:  Sand, Clean, Micro Over Fiberglass

This morning we sanded, vacuumed, and acetoned the fiberglass. My next fiberglass lesson had to do with Micro. Micro is a just another substance, in this case micro glass bubbles, that is added to the Jeffco epoxy resin. It is easy to spread, is used as a final filler, and is very easy to sand. Basically you mix up the resin 4 to 1 like always, then add several handfuls of the very very fine micro glass bubbles and stir these in. You don't want to breath any of this stuff, especially the micro since it is glass and is so fine. The consistency of this stuff is like a white cake frosting. Adding the micro to the resin really expands the amount of material you have to work with. As with the fiberglass, we wetted out the base by painting straight epoxy resin to the canopy before mixing in the bubbles and applying the micro. We used the large popsicle sticks to frost over the fiberglass. Sanding this stuff after it dries will produce a very very smooth surface.
