Brief Description: Drill Outer Strip; Trim Forward Channels
Today I clamped the outer strip to the aft channels and drilled them together starting at the center and working outboard. Once again I had to be careful to keep the strip pushed down to the web of the channels, especially around the bends in the channel. I drilled everything to #40 first and then enlarged the holes to #30. The next step was to trim and polish the ends of the forward channels. These were then slipped into place and the rivet patterns from the aft channels were transferred to the forward channels. I was able to center-punch both the inner and outer flanges of the forward channels this evening. I need to find some type of spacer blocks to put inside the channels while I drill. The assembly needs to be 1 1/2" thick.
