Today I created two nylon guides for the canopy latches and bolted them to the roll bar. These work very well guiding the latches into their respective cutouts, especially given the amount of flex or twist in the canopy as it opens and closes. The guides are a little tight against the latches so I have to actually pull or push the canopy fully closed depending on whether I'm inside or outside the plane. I'm sure this will loosen up over time as the guides wear and the latches seat against the nylon.I had a heck of a time finding the actual nylon stock to make these guides. Van's doesn't sell anything in the right size and Aircraft Spruce just sells nylon rods. I ended up purchasing rectangular bars from MSC.
