Brief Description: Create Template for Rear Window Support Strip
The plans indicate optional backing strips can be made to provide more support for the nuts along the aft edge of the rear window plexiglass. I decided to order a sheet of 0.025 aluminum and fabricate these strips. Hopefully this will also serve to prevent any cracking in the plexiglass.Since I had already riveted the top skin to the aft fuselage I couldn't lay the skin flat on the floor to trace the outline needed for the strips. What worked out well for me was to steal some of my daughter's posterboard and trace the outline of the skin onto the posterboard. I then cut the posterboard and used it as a template in marking the 0.025 aluminum sheet. I then drew parallel lines 5/8" back from the original lines for the width of the backing strips.
