Brief Description: Rivet Stiffeners to Skins; Cleco Rudder
I back-riveted all of the stiffeners to the skins today. I then spent a fair amount of time trimming the rudder horn brace and fabricating a shim in order to get all of the rudder structural components to fit together. Unfortunately Van's sent the wrong reinforcement plate for the rod end bearing that attaches to the center of the spar. It looks like the one they sent is sized to fit the old RV-7 rudder, which is much too small. I sent an email to Van's and they said they would ship out the correct part immediately without charge. Van's is a great company to work with! Once the skeleton was clecoed and match-drilled it was time to do the same with the skins.
