Brief Description: Sand Bottom Tip (Micro) / Epoxy Nuts for Strobe
Next I sanded the micro on the bottom rudder tip and then smoothed out the inside of the cutout for the strobe light. I wasn't sure what I was going to do for the two nuts that are needed to secure the light to the fiberglass. Some people made elaborate aluminum plates that had nutplates riveted to them and fit those inside the fiberglass while others had just epoxied the nuts directly to the fiberglass. I decided to keep it simple and broke out the T-88 epoxy. I cleaned the inside with Acetone, partially installed the screws in order to hold the nuts in place, then mixed up the epoxy and globbed it on the inside around the nuts. They are completely covered so I'll have to drill through the nuts and epoxy in order to allow the screws to be fully seated. The second picture shows how I clamped the screws to keep the nuts centered and flush against the fiberglass.
