Brief Description:  Longerons: Countersink, Alodine, Prime

Today was a long day of countersinking the longerons. My brother Matt let me borrow his larger compressor for this since my pancake compressor would have burned up doing this. The microstop countersink got blistering hot doing this. Once all of the countersinking was done I spent a fair amount of time buffing out all of the scratches and marks on the longerons using the dremel tool. It was an unusually nice November day so I decided to remove the plywood cover over my home-made hanger door to the basement. Without this hole in our wall it would be impossible to get long pieces like the longerons into and out of my basement workshop. You can see our garage is no longer a garage. It has been converted into a Mother-in-law apartment. Anyway, I layed the longerons across a couple of saw horses and then used Acetone to clean them. Then I used the Alodine pen to help prevent corrosion before priming the longerons. Once the primer was dry it was back into the basement with the longerons, close the hanger door with plywood, and then shift the deacon's bench back over the hidden access door.
