Brief Description:  Left: Mate / Bolt to Fuselage

Once the rear spar of the left wing was trimmed, the bottom holes marked, and the aileron pushrod installed, I called Daisy, Heather, and David down to help me mate the wing. This really wasn't too bad, especially with all of my great helpers. It only took two iterations. The first time we mounted the wing it was apparent that the rear spar needed to be trimmed just a bit more in order to allow the holes in the front spar to mate up with the holes in the center section. Actually, I just had to notch the top of the rear spar about an 1/8" to fit around a univeral rivet head on the fuselage. It would have been better if the plans called for a flush rivet just above the F705 bars exiting the fuselage. I may drill this rivet out eventually and replace it with a flush rivet. I notched the read spar in the meantime. Once this was done, I called everyone back down and we mated the left wing again. The holes in the front spar lined up much better this time. I was able to get the drift pins in with some LP2 spray while Daisy and the kids wiggled the wing around. I then replaced the drift pins with full size hardware store bolts. The left wing is on!
