Brief Description:  Mark & Drill #30 Holes for Camloc's; Scallop Strip

After installing the top cowl back onto the plane, I measured and marked where the 15 camloc's would go. I needed to make sure there was enough edge distance between the ends of all 3 aluminum strips and also that the camlocs would be evenly spaced around the firewall. Once I was satisfied with the layout I drilled #30 pilot holes beginning in the center of the cowl and working down and outboard to the sides.

Next I removed the top cowl and the aluminum strips and then scalloped them to allow each tab to be bent downward to better match the downward slope of the cowl while at the same time matching the curve of the firewall. I used a unibit to make a large hole between each camloc, and then the band saw to make the diagonal cutout's. The strips were then deburred. Now I just have to drill them for the camloc recepticles.
