Brief Description: Drill Fuselage for Comant Bent Whip Antenna
I decided to mount the Comant bent whip comm antenna just ahead of the front spar center section on the pilots side. No need for a doubler plate since three of the four screws will pass through either a floor stiffener or the flange of the spar.
I made a drill jig out of 0.063 aluminum by drilling the center hole for the BNC connector first and then using the pre-drilled base of the antenna as a guide to drill the four screw holes in the jig. Next I drilled out one of the rivets on the bottom flange of the front spar,,,the one that connects to the outboard floor stiffener on the pilots side. Then I screwed the jig plate to that hole and drilled the remaining holes. Worked great. Now I just need to order some countersink screws so I can install the antenna.
