Brief Description:  Remove Prop & Spacer, Reinstall with Spinner Bulkh

Rework time. I didn't look at the plans when I installed the prop spacer and prop. I was in a hurry to get the prop on so I could install the alternator and tension the belt so I forgot to install the spinner bulkheads when I bolted the prop to the engine. Bummer. Oh well, live and learn.

My biggest worry was getting the spacer off the prop since it was press fitted in place. I ended up search the internet and found some doco on the Sensenich web site on how to remove spacers. It wasn't complicated but it was a bit nerve wracking. You simply support the prop as close to the hub as you can about 6" above the floor, insert a 7/16" steel punch and hammer the two pins out until the spacer falls away from the prop. I layed the prop across the narrow span of a furniture dolly which was perfect as far as the height from the floor as well as for supporting the prop blades close to the hub. The dolly boards also had a layer of carpeting over them to protect from scratching. Then, I found an old 12" 7/16 drill bit, wrapped the not drilling end with duct tape, inserted it into one of the pin holes and wailed on it with a hammer. I had goggles, headphones, and gloves on since I was hitting the pointed end of the drill bit with a steel hammer. I basically destroyed the drill bit as I alternated between the two pins but eventually the prop spacer fell about an inch to the carpeted basement floor. Whew, that wasn't so bad after all. I thought I was screwed and either needed a special tool or to send the prop and spacer assemble back to the factory to pull them apart but not so.

Once the prop and spacer were off the engine and separated I deburred the two spinner bulkheads and then reassembled everything together and torqued the prop bolts. Done deal.
