Brief Description: Install Left Main Wheel on Axle; Drill / Cotter Pi
As with anything, the second time is always much easier than the first. I didn't have any problems installing the left main wheel after dealing with the right wheel / axle yesterday. No broken bits today. I used a new #40 bit to get things started and that did the trick. Once the #40 hole was through the steel axle, it wasn't a problem enlarging it to #30 using the pre-drilled holes in the nut as a guide. I still had to clean up the threads a bit with a needle file.
Once the hole was drilled I installed the bearings, spacers, wheel, and axle nut. After torqueing the axle nut / aligning the holes in the nut with the holes in the axle I inserted the cotter pin and bent the ends around. I'll have to order a bunch of these cotter pins so I'll be prepared for any future maintenance that may be needed on the wheel pant brackets, brakes, wheels, tire, etc.
