Brief Description: Make Fiberglass Sandwich for Front Edge of Canopy
Lesson 1 was Flox.Lesson 2 is fiberglass. The first thing you want to do is plan everything out. In this case we will be using 2 layers of fiberglass approximately 4" in width. We cleared a work area and covered it with a piece of 1 mil pastic. We had 2 more pieces of plastic ready as well which will be used to sandwich the fiberglass between to keep things as clean as possible. Once we had the fiberglass cloth cut and laying on our 2nd layer of plastic (the first layer is just protecting the work surface), we mixed up some epoxy and saturated the cloth, one layer at a time. Once the first layer was saturated we applied the second layer on top and then poured more epoxy over it so it would saturate from both the bottom and top. After the cloth was saturated and there wer no air bubbles or dry white cloth left we covered the layups with a layer of 1 mil plastic. Then we used a large threaded rod to squeegee the excess resin out of the cloth. Next we took a cheap paintbrush and wetted the plexiglass and aluminum with resin before applying the fiberglass.
