Brief Description: Drill Wing Tip Reinforcement Strips to Outboard Ri
I purchased 4 thin aluminum reinforcement strips that Van's sells as an option for the fiberglass wing tips. These will be epoxyed to the inside edges of the fiberglass tips as extra support for the nutplates and screws and to reduce the puckering between screws.
The first thing I did was remove the right wing tip. The blue plastic film was then removed from each of the strips. I then clecoed the one strip to the top flange of the inboard wing rib using side mount clecos and one to the bottom flange.
The pre-punched holes in the wing rib were then used to drill the reinforcement strips, just as they were used to drill the fiberglass wing tips themselves.
Once all the screw holes were drilled to #40 for now, I removed all the clecoes and the reinforcement strips from the wing.
