Brief Description:  Empennage Fairing Fiberglass Rebuild

For the past several weeks my friend, Dr. John Heit, who built a beautiful RV-14, has been rebuilding my Empennage Fairing. The fairing, as delivered from VANs, had a ½” gap on the right forward front side and essentially, no gap on the forward left side. I have no idea how the original mold for this got so mis-aligned, but it did. John is clearly a fiberglass wizard and rebuilt the fairing to fit perfectly on the vertical stabilizer. Over the last couple days, I dimpled the screw holes and attached the fairing to see how it fits. I still have a little finish fiberglass epoxy resin to apply to get rid of a few low spots and pinholes, but overall, Dr Heit saved me 6 weeks of effort. I am extremely thankful and appreciate all his help!
