Brief Description:  Installing the Main Gear Wheel Pants (cont.)

In the end of this process, the wheel pant must have clearance for the gear leg, brake lines, and fully inflated tires. Finally, you have to mark and drill the matching holes for the inner and outer support brackets. The last steps in installing the wheel pants is to lay-up some fiberglass reinforcing strips on the inside of the aft wheel pant where they connect to the support brackets and to attach nutplates for all the screws that hold the assemblies together. The screw holes have to dimpled with a dimpling bit and reinforcing spacers are inserted. The next tasks for the main gear fairings are to fiberglass the upper and lower intersection fairings which attach to the bottom of the wing and onto the wheel pants. I’ll do these steps once I have the nose gear fairings installed.
