Brief Description: Main Landing Gear Brake and Wheel Cont.
Spacers are made out of aluminum tube stock. Drawing C2 specified a length of 13/32" so you would have a gap of 1/16" between the flange and the wheel. They also said to use thin washers if that wasn't enough for clearance. Originally, the spacers were good but when I torqued the bolts to the specified setting, the spacers squeezed. By trial and error, removing and installing the wheel and wheel-nut (and an hour of messing with this) I finally got the correct spacing. Next came drilling the main gear axle for a cotter pin. The gear is made out of very hardened steel…(6) bits and 3 hours later I got two holes drilled.
