Brief Description: Preparation to attach wings to the fuselage
It's been three months since I last worked on the RV. I started my Instrument and Commercial Flight Training and there has been lots of studying. That hasn't left a lot of time to work on the RV.
After about 2 hours of trying to figure out where I left off a few months ago, I started off by rounding-off 8 drift pins to help align the main spar holes holes (4- 7/16x8" and 4- 1/4x8"). You have to have these or you will never get the center spar to fit into the fuselage receptical. These are some pictures of the initial preparation work. I had to drill out several rivets on both lower wing skins so I could eventually install screws to hold the fiberglass fairings on. The 2nd picture is the measured lines from each hole locations to show where to drill the nutplates. Finally I had to trim the rear spar fitting on each wing so it would fit into the rear flange.
