Brief Description:  Nose Wheel Tire Air Door

Today, I am cutting a hole and fabricating an air access door in my Nose Wheel Pant. I mounted the wheel pant onto the attach brackets and lifted the front of my airplane using an engine hoist. I rotated the nosewheel tire until the valve stem was 90 degrees to the floor and clear of the aft mounting brackets. I used a small light to shine through the wheel pant and marked the center of valve stem on the outside of the pant. Next, I drilled a 1” hole with a step-down drill bit and determined how big I wanted the access door to be for easily check air pressure and add air (1st pic). Then, I drilled additional holes in the corners of the access hole for perfectly rounded corners and to make it easy to use my jig saw to cut out the access holes (2nd pic). It was then relatively simple to cut out the hole.
