Brief Description:  Realign Anti-Splat Nose Job Brace & Fairings

As I mentioned a couple months ago, the Nose Gear Fairing I previously installed did not fit over the Anti-Splat Nose Job Bracing because the hinge pins were located too close to the bracing. I purchased another fairing and installed new piano hinges but upon installing, I realized the fairing was out of alignment with the airflow and would slowly turn the nose while in-flight. The pictures below show the alignment process. First, I dropped a plumb-bob from the center of the tail tiedown and made a jig to stretch a string to the exact centerline from the nose gear. Then I adjusted the Anti-Splat Bracing using a center-finding ruler. Next, I installed the new nose gear fairing using new hinge pins, centered the fairing in the same manner, and notched the fairing on the top with new alignment marks on the nose gear. This will allow me to remove and reinstall the fairing so it will be perfectly aligned with airflow after painting.
